Nomination for Joe Shults for TN Turkey Hunting Hall of Fame
This letter is a recommendation for nomination to the TN Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame for Joe Shults. I
have reviewed the criteria for nomination at this level and feel satisfied that Mr. Shults meetsand
exceeds all the required criteria. Shults is a longtime chapter member, State Board Member, past State Chapter President, and now serves on the National Board. He led the TN State Chapter for six years and saw great growth in many aspects and achievements in the state of Tennessee. I feel strongly in saying that Joe Shults is deserving of this nomination.

To Whom It May Cocern:
We the French Broad River Longbeards Chapter would like to Nominate Joe Shults for the
Tennessee Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame.

In Joe’s NWTF career he has helped start the Sevier County Chapter and our current Chapter in Cocke County, The French Broad River Longbeards. He has served as President of our Chapter
for twelve years and is currently serving as our Chapter’s treasurer.


He handles most of our banquets responsibilities such as Dealing with our FFL dealer, orders the
food, gets our venue for the banquet etc…..


Joe also donates his time to promote the NWTF at events such as Wounded Warrior hunts in
Milan, Tn. and helps buy the soldier that he takes hunting a membership to the NWTF. He also
does the St. Judes hunt in Savannah, Tennessee as well to take kids hunting and to help raise
money for St. Judes Childrens hospital.


Joe has sat on the TWRA’s Stakeholder Group in the East Tennessee Region to help with input
and discussion on regulating bag limits and seasons to help the Wild Turkey in Tennessee.
Joe has been a setting member of the Tennessee State Board of Directors for over 20 years.
During that span he was Mark Watmath’s Vice President for 3 years and 6 Years as Keith
Hickman’s Vice President. Then he served 6 years as the State Chapter President.


During his 20 plus year tenure on the State Board he has never missed a Board meeting. During
his tenure he has served on many committees as well, such as the Lisence Plate Committee,
Super Fund Committee, Nominating Committee and the Website Committee.


Joe was elected onto the National Board of Directors in 2023 for a three year term and has
completed 1 year of that term. While on the National Board of Directors Joe sets on the
Constitution and ByLaws Committee, The Building Committee, and the Audit, Compliance & Risk
Management Committee.


Joe has also completed several Grand Slams, has 1 Royal Slam, 1 World Slam and is only 1 bird
away from completing his Mexican Slam.


Joe has been filming turkey and deer hunts in the Outdoor Industry for the last 28 years. The
first 21 and a half years with Drury Outdoors and the last 6 and a halfyears with The Rival Tv
Show in which he owns half of. In that span Joe has promoted the Conservation and
Management of the Wild Turkey and the conservation of the landscape.


Joe has also helpd score the Grand National Calling contest at the NWTF Covention and has also
judged The Tennessee State Calling Contest which is a qualifier for the Grand National Calling
Contest at the NWTF Convention. He has also Judged several qualifing contest at the Bass Pro
Shop in Kodiak Tennessee as well.


We think that all this dedication in preserving the Hunting Heritage, being a conservationist,
and promoting the Wild Turkey and all wildlife management programs and practices and being
a protector of the landscape for all wildlife should qualify Joe to be a candidate for The
Tennessee Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame.

It is with great pleasure That I write this letter on behalf of Joe Shults for The Tennessee Turkey Hunters Hall of Fame, Joe has been a friend to me for years, helped start NWTF Chapters in East Tennessee, has held several positions in his home chapter. Joe has also served as our state Chapter Vice President, and Then OUR President, and now sits on our National Board, I truly see no one more deserving of this than my friend Joe Shults.
