Joel Parker

Joel Parker was a young man whose life reflected a deep passion for the outdoors, family, and the hunting traditions that many of us hold dear.

At just 20 years old, Joel tragically lost his life in a head-on collision caused by a speeding motorist who crossed into his lane. On that morning, Joel was doing what he loved most—heading out to hunt with his father and brother. He was traveling behind his father’s truck when the accident occurred.

Joel’s love for hunting, especially turkey hunting, started at an early age and became a defining part of who he was. He was not only an avid deer and turkey hunter but also a talented and dedicated turkey caller who enjoyed competing in calling contests. His skill and passion led him to become the 2005 NWTF Intermediate National Turkey Calling Champion, an accomplishment that reflected both his talent and commitment to the sport.

More importantly, Joel represented the values that the hunting community cherishes—faith, family, friendship, sportsmanship, and a love for the outdoors. Though his life was cut tragically short, his impact continues to be felt by those who knew him and by others who share his passion for turkey hunting.

The Joel Parker Memorial Classic Calling Contest serves as a tribute to Joel’s legacy. It honors a young man who loved the outdoors, excelled in the art of turkey calling, and embodied the spirit of our hunting heritage. Through this event, we remember Joel’s enthusiasm, celebrate his accomplishments, and inspire future generations of callers to carry forward the traditions that meant so much to him.
